Ruanne Vent-Schmidt

B.F.A., M.Sc.

UPDATE: Ruanne has graduated in 2019, and is now working as a Specialist in Peer Support, Advocacy and Research Communications at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

I am a graduate studentin the Moritz Lab. I am investigating the effect of small compounds in various genetic backgrounds of autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa in transgenic X. laevis. Concurrently, I am elucidating the cell death mechanism of rod photoreceptors and how it may differ depending on the genetic mutation.

During my spare time, I rock climb, dance, and teach yoga.
